The article explores Cecílio Báez's work La Tirania en el Paraguay (1903), analysing how the concepts of Walter Benjamin, Gilles Deleuze, and Félix Guattari aid in understanding tradition, memory, and territoriality. Báez, situated within the context of the Novecentos, criticises tyrannies and proposes a reconfiguration of Paraguayan identity through education. The analysis engages with Brezzo, Centurión, Corbo and Cerna Villagra to comprehend the Platense historiographical ecosystem. The conclusions highlight that Báez's work, by reinterpreting the past through a romantic and evolutionist lens, contributes to the construction of Paraguayan identities shaped by the science of his time, which considered biology, morality, and historical senses as the foundations of nationality.
