The aim of this paper is to examine the proposals and statements regarding the national identity in the Latin American historiography, between the independence movement, in the early 19th century, and the period immediately after independence. The article discuss the theme of national identity, of our specificity, about the regional identities difficulties taken as originating; constant themes in historiography and in Latin American political discussions during this period.Downloads
