This paper analyzed part of the chronicle documentation produced in Portugal between the years 1430 and 1460. In that context, it was observed in Fernão Lopes and Gomes Eanes de Zurara an organization to writing such texts, beginning from older to most recent people, creating a contrast of qualities which valued the last. In chronicle which narrates the events in Ceuta under the first Portuguese captain, Count Pedro de Meneses, figure out the inclusion of the son of captain in the second part of the second book. This study therefore attempted to identify possible reasons for such entry, since it defies considerably with the chronicle. Applied the notion of political genealogy, where the writing of the past created a symbolic and hierarchical link with those concerned in writing the texts, recovering the family and politic past. Thus, we sought to understand the writing device in the context of inquiry the prerogatives nobiliary, being the chronic an instrument of legitimacy.Downloads
