A Jesuit style of writing history: notes on style and history in Jesuit historiography

The Society of Jesus from its foundation has expressed a keen interest in history. The number of historians devoted to studying and preserving the memory of the past and writing of the institution is remarkable. Despite the differences and the different eras in which they lived and wrote, is perfectly identifiable similarities between the narratives that historians of the Company define a Jesuit style of writing history. This article proposes an approach of Jesuit historiography, represented here by Argentine historian José María Blanco, in order to identify some features of Ignatian style of historians.Downloads
