Abstract

A few years before the beginning of the Second World War, the rapprochement between socialism and western esotericism would be outlined in France. This effort, produced around the Collège de Sociologie as a reaction to Fascism, aimed to reactivate ideas and efforts that can be traced back to the French Revolution. The resulting meta-narrative, constructed by various intellectuals around Georges Bataille, including Walter Benjamin and Pierre Klossowski, sought to establish its origins in Valentianism and, later, in Roman theology. The aim was to create an intellectual alternative to Marxism through the ideas of Fourier, Blanqui, Sade, and Nietzsche inventing a construct that would decisively influence Post-structuralism in the 1960s.

Renato Amado Peixoto, UFRN

Renato Amado Peixoto é professor adjunto da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), onde atua no Departamento de História e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História (PPGHIS). Fez seu mestrado na UERJ e trabalhou em sua dissertação a produção e a construção do saber geopolítico no Brasil, focando a ESG e o governo Castelo Branco. Defendeu sua tese de doutoramento na UFRJ, trabalhando o problema da construção do espaço nacional brasileiro por meio da cartografia e das corografias no século XIX. Leciona nas áreas de História Contemporânea; História Regional e Local; História do Brasil República. Dedica-se a pesquisa na área de História dos espaços trabalhando as relações de produção e construção de identidades e espacialidades nos campos cultural e político. Atualmente está focando em sua pesquisa a produção e a reelaboração do pensamento católico e sua relação com a construção do espaço e da identidade no Rio Grande do Norte no século XX. Secundariamente, mantém o interesse na pesquisa e análise da produção literária de Robert E. Howard e H. P. Lovecraft e na investigação da História da Política Externa brasileira, ambos conexão com os problemas de espacialidade e identidade. Trabalha com as seguintes linhas: 'Cultura, poder e representações espaciais e 'Geopoder, geopolítica, território e Estado'. Encontra-se vinculado na UFRN à base de pesquisa 'Cartografias Contemporâneas - História, espaços, produção de subjetividades e práticas institucionais' e coordena o Grupo de estudo do Espaço e de suas Representações Culturais (GERC).
