Abstract

The article focuses on an individual experience of research and teaching Brazilian history. It argues the pertinence of a theoretical study based in three issues: historical logic, agents and creation. Over the last three decades, the approach of these themes renewed History and pointed it as a relevant knowledge in face of contemporary challenges.

Author Biography

Regina Horta Duarte, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais

Possui graduação em História pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1985), mestrado em História pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1988) e doutorado em História pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1993). Atualmente é professora titular da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Tem experiência na área de História, com ênfase em História do Brasil Império e República, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: história e natureza, história da biologia. É membro eleita da Diretoria da Sociedade Latino Americana Y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental (SOLCHA), gestão 2006-2010. Foi membro da diretoria da Associação Nacional de Historia (gestão ago 2007-jul 2009, ANPUH nacional), atuou como editora responsável na Revista Brasileira de História. Entre março de 2008 e fevereiro de 2009, ocupou vaga de Professora Residente no Instituto de Estudos Avançados Transdiscipllinares da UFMG.
