Os eternos movimentos (in)disciplinares entre a História e as Relações Internacionais: a importância do pensamento histórico

Resumo

Este artigo analisa os fundamentos historiográficos e teórico-metodológicos da relação (in)disciplinar entre a História e as Relações Internacionais (RI). Por meio de uma interpretação historiográfica, identifica os principais movimentos de afastamento e aproximação da História face às RI. O artigo tem dois objetivos fundamentais. O primeiro é demonstrar que, embora a História tenha um papel central na imaginação teórica da disciplina das RI, sua importância foi variável e refletiu os diferentes momentos políticos e científicos do seu nascimento, autonomização e maturidade. O segundo é problematizar as pontes e fronteiras entre as duas disciplinas, sublinhando a importância que o pensamento histórico tem para a análise das relações internacionais. O seu principal argumento é que o retorno do pensamento histórico à disciplina das RI mitiga as limitações a-históricas e associais do neopositivismo dominante e aumenta a sofisticação da compreensão reflexiva do estudo das relações internacionais.
