This article is an attempt to contribute to this debate, focusing on the participation of a “woman of letters”, the feminist Louise Dauriat, in the history congress organized by the Institut Historique de Paris, in 1837, and the entire dispute that ensued from then on. We start from this event to understand the rejection suffered by women historians throughout the 1800s, especially in relation to the ban on entry into institutions that proposed to establish formats of historical research and writing, and the problems that such ostracism caused in terms practical and epistemic.
Isadora Tavares Maleval Copyright (c) 2025 Isadora Tavares Maleval https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2206 Wed, 29 Oct 2025 00:00:00 -0300 A Reactionary History? https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2535
The present text aims to proposerehearse a few hypotheses about the current de-democratization of the past in the United States of the Trump Age, from the standpoint of a case study of anti-Critical Race Theory (CRT)CRT laws approved by the Republican Party in a series of states and their assault onagainst the honest judgement of the US history of slavery and racial violence. The text concludes that this assault is part of a larger process of political de-democratization that aims to, among other things, redefine the links between history and the polis in order to legitimize the “exit from democracy” currently underway in the country.
Arthur Lima de Avila Copyright (c) 2025 Arthur Lima de Avila https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2535 Wed, 29 Oct 2025 00:00:00 -0300 Historiography, Identity and Paraguayan Memory https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2254

The article explores Cecílio Báez's work La Tirania en el Paraguay (1903), analysing how the concepts of Walter Benjamin, Gilles Deleuze, and Félix Guattari aid in understanding tradition, memory, and territoriality. Báez, situated within the context of the Novecentos, criticises tyrannies and proposes a reconfiguration of Paraguayan identity through education. The analysis engages with Brezzo, Centurión, Corbo and Cerna Villagra to comprehend the Platense historiographical ecosystem. The conclusions highlight that Báez's work, by reinterpreting the past through a romantic and evolutionist lens, contributes to the construction of Paraguayan identities shaped by the science of his time, which considered biology, morality, and historical senses as the foundations of nationality.
José Carlos dos Santos Copyright (c) 2025 José Carlos dos Santos https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2254 Wed, 29 Oct 2025 00:00:00 -0300 History of Historiography in the Amazon https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2151
This article is a contribution to Brazilian and Amazonian historiographies regarding the intellectual scenario of the early 20th century, proposing to analyze the role of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Pará (IHGP) and the Geographical and Historical Institute of Amazonas (IGHA) in constructing a regional historiographic field in the Amazon, between 1917 and 1951. The process of creating the historical institutes of the Amazon and the concurrent movement of disciplinary specialization in the region, contributing to the construction of an Amazonian historiographic field, is investigated on journals, chapters, and articles. The initial reading allowed us to understand that the IHGP and IGHA were created in response to the rubber crisis and republican influences. The historians of these institutes institutionalized their productions by publishing in their journals, whose narratives revealed a concern with elaborating a history of Amazonian origins in dialogue with the history of Brazil.
Lucilvana Ferreira Barros Copyright (c) 2025 Lucilvana Ferreira Barros https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2151 Fri, 30 May 2025 00:00:00 -0300 History of Historiography in the Amazon https://historiadahistoriografia.com.br/revista/article/view/2458
